Meet Ukraine

There are a lot of places to see in Ukraine and to be proud of. There the Carpathians with their legends, castles, cathedrals and unique traditions. There`s Kyiv- one of the oldest cities in Europe, with it`s historical monuments, museums, theatres, exhibitions halls, art galleries and it`s rich cultural life. The Ukrainians are a gregarious people who will often gather in cafes or street markets to socialize. A common practice is for friends to visit each other at home to spend time chatting over tea.
I would like to invite you to the marvelous trip to Ukraine. It is a huge state in the Continental Europe. Sometimes it is referred to the as that situated in the central part of Europe, which is right if we speak about the geographical position and the fact that Europe’s eastern border is The Ural Mountain Chain. But traditionally Ukraine is stated to be the country of the Eastern Europe, taking into account the idea that Switzerland and Austria are two central European countries.
Secondly, there is quite an evident necessity to underline that the proper way to name this state is “Ukraine”, not “The Ukraine”. The latter wrong variant was in use while Ukraine was the consisting part of the USSR as the Ukrainian Soviet Socialitic Republic. Thus, it was referred to as the part of the whole state, its region, and not as an independent state which it is now. It was an astonishing fact that even in the 2000s “The Guardian” was still using “The Ukraine” in its articles explaining it mostly by the historical influences. But thanks to a person that was always opposed to this and disputed with the newspaper’s direction, the proper way of Ukraine’s naming was introduced.
